Man sitting at a desk in a dim library, head in hands, overwhelmed. Sunlight streams through a window, illuminating stacks of books.
"Why don’t any of us just… die already?"

(Scene: YOU sit alone in the corner of the University Library. The space is eerily quiet, save for the occasional shuffle of pages or the muted footsteps of students passing by. A faint beam of sunlight filters through the dusty windows, casting long shadows across the rows of bookshelves.)

You: (murmuring to yourself) Twenty-five years ago, I sat at these same tables…

(You glance at the empty chair across from you.)

You: And now, I’m back… hiding. Pretending I have a job to go to...

(You pause, your voice dropping to a whisper.)

You: Why am I still so afraid of them? Forty-five years old, and I’m still terrified of disappointing them. Still haunted by their expectations, by their endless disapproval.

(A bitter laugh escapes your lips, and you shake your head.)

You: They outlived my love for them long ago. And their love for me? That died even before that. Hell, they’ve outlived their love for each other.

(You stare blankly at the rows of books, their spines faded with time.)

You: Why don’t any of us just… die already? Wouldn’t that be easier?

(Your voice sharpens, tinged with a mix of defiance and despair.)

You: You can't let the old fools control everything forever. This world isn’t abundant. It’s not the endless frontier they told us about. Our world of slaves.
