The Woods of Fatherland (父なる森) - Cover | Mobile Suit Victory Gundam

"The Woods of Fatherland" from Mobile Suit Victory Gundam (1993), composed by Akira Senju (千住明), is a warm and tender piece that contrasts with the story’s bleak and war-torn setting.


One character that stands out to me is Karlmann (カルル), a baby who tragically loses his mother at just one year old. He’s taken care of by Shakti, and throughout the series, he’s often seen with her and Flanders the dog. Together, they bring a sense of calm and warmth to the otherwise harsh and tragic world around them.


The image for this video is my imagination of Karlmann as a young man, walking in the mountains with Flanders’ puppies, far from the violence and chaos of war. I hope you enjoy the music and this peaceful vision of Karlmann’s future.
